About the wine

Champagne Bertrand-Delespierre was founded in 1980 by Chantal Delespierre and Didier Bertrand. Today, their children Clémence and Adrien are showing up for the management of the 10-hectare farm. Vineyards - completely family-owned - responsible. And so now two generations live side by side on the estate to continue the tradition of the winemaking family. The vineyards are located in the villages of Chamery, Ecueil, Villedommange and Montbré, all 1er Cru in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier are cultivated, spread over 60 plots, with vines of an average age of 30 years. With these requirements, Clémence and Adrien therefore naturally also focus on maintaining the vineyards and the soils. Production resources and working methods are constantly being improved, always with the clear goal of protecting the environment and working out the terroir more and more precisely and thus ultimately increasing the quality of the grapes. For example, the majority of the vineyards are variably greened and people are currently preparing for the HVE certification (Haute Valeur Environnementale - planned completion in 2020). Clémence and Adrien also still rely on the traditional coquard press for winemaking, to process the grapes as naturally and gently as possible. A large part of the base wines are aged in so-called “Demi-Muids” (600 liter wooden barrels). These go through malolactic fermentation, in contrast to vintage wines, which suppress the so-called BSA. Each champagne ages on the lees for at least four years, the vintage champagne even longer. Each champagne is individual and well thought-out, elegant and accessible. It is refreshing to see how much passion and enthusiasm the still young siblings have adopted their parents' guidelines, adapting them and incorporating contemporary and environmentally conscious methods without forgetting the traditions. We are inspired by this breath of fresh air and the positive energy of this talented family and are looking forward to what is yet to come.

Tasting note
Cuvée consisting of 40% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 27% Meunier. The basis is 60% of the 2022 vintage, supplemented with reserve wines from 2016-2021. Inviting nose image with aromas of yellow stone fruits, Meyer lemons and red berries, underlined with wonderful floral notes and a fine cake touch. Engaging on the palate, with great freshness, delicate grapefruit tones, harmonious with beautiful elegance and good length.
Culinary recommendation
A wonderful champagne as an aperitif, enjoyed just for yourself, or classic with “ham croissants”, quiche lorraine or salmon rolls. But also with light fish and poultry dishes.
