About the wine

The Côtes du Rhône appellation was only created in August 1967, when only 13 villages were allowed to be included. Today, there are over 95 vineyards with an area of around 8'700 hectares. In 1936, Gabriel Meffre founded his small family business with 10 hectares of vineyards in Gigondas. Gabriel Meffre has long been vouching for his good quality throughout France. It owns plots in the best locations, where Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre are cultivated in particular. Laurus red wine, which is pressed from Syrah grapes and aged in 275 liter barriques for 15 months, is also excellent. The uncompromising commitment to quality in growing and pressing wines is reflected in the numerous top ratings at national and international competitions. American wine critic and Rhône expert Jeb Dunnuck also gives the Meffre range very good marks.
