About the wine
The origins of Rioja Vega go back to 1882, when Don Felipe Ugalde established a bodega in Haro that bore his name. A change took place in 1948. The Ugalde and Muerza families (another family of winemakers in the neighborhood) became related through marriage. Both bodegas joined forces to set up production in San Adrián under the name of Bodegas Muerza. It was a period of prosperity. The equipment was renewed and the sales network improved. In 1983, the winery was acquired by the Príncipe de Viana Group. Since then, sales have increased considerably, and the wines regularly shine at national and international awards.

Tasting note
Intense cherry red in the glass. Notes of leather, tobacco and earth. Behind it, there are soft nuances of black berries, dried plums and roasted aromas such as vanilla, caramel and butter. Full-bodied, fresh and soft, this blend impresses with well-integrated tannins and aromas of chocolate, spice and a minerality that lingers on for a long time.

Recommended by Flaschenpöstlern: Crianza Rioja DOCa goes perfectly with pizza, barbecue and lasagna.
Vinification
The classic Rioja assemblage is aged in American oak barrels for 12 months. After bottling, there is a further period of aging in the bottle for at least 6 months.
