Tasting note
The Chianti Classico Berardenga shines in a strong ruby red with purple reflections. The nose is dominated by aromas of dark fruits, blackberries, black cherries and plums, paired with sweet-spicy accents and some laurel. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and intense with classic Sangiovese fruit, fine-grained tannins and a pleasant freshness. A complex Chianti with a long-lasting aftertaste and good aging potential.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with pasta, Italian specialties, grilled dishes and meat dishes.
Vinification
The grapes for this Chianti come from the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardegna. The vines grow at 320-420 meters above sea level on quartz-rich sandstone, limestone and clay soils. The grapes are harvested by hand and then macerated for 12-15 days. The wine is then aged for 12 months, partly in large Slavonian wooden barrels and partly in used barriques, before maturing in the bottle for a further month.
