About the wine
The estate was first mentioned in documents in the 14th century. At that time, the owner family was the ancient noble family Gherardini. It has now been proven that Mona Lisa - the protagonist of what is arguably the most famous painting in the world - was a gheradini. It was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci, on a balcony with the hills of the Chianti region in the background.

Tasting note
It shows aromas of ripe wild berries and blueberries, underlined by fine spicy notes. Balanced on the palate, with well-integrated acidity and a long, intense finish.
Culinary recommendation
It goes well with cold cuts and hard cheeses, but also goes well with pasta dishes, mushroom risotto and red meat.
Vinification
The grapes for this Chianti Classico come mainly from the higher elevations of Prenzano. The wine was aged in large oak barrels.
