Tasting note
Dark purple. Aromatic bouquet on the nose; scented of plums and plums with spicy wood aromas. Hearty palate, with juice and power. The tannin is delicate, with good balance and medium length. Finally, the roasted barrique aromas are noticeable. First treat in two years — with good aging potential.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with lamb gigot with oven-baked potatoes, grilled beef fillet, rabbit with lentils or aged cheese.
Vinification
Located in the village of Martillac in the immediate vicinity of the Grands-Crus Classés domains of Pessac-Léognan, the winery is spread over very hilly soil, which, due to its richness and diversity, is similar to that of its famous neighbors. At Château La Garde, the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the young wine matures for 12 to 18 months in partly new French barriques.
