About the wine

The imposing Château de Pierreux is located in the southernmost and largest “Cru du Beaujolais” in the midst of the fantastically beautiful vineyards. The château dates back to the 13th century and is the showpiece of the region. The estate is surrounded by 250 hectares of land, directly opposite Mont Brouilly, in a landscape that expresses the soul of Beaujolais. 190 hectares are planted exclusively with Gamay grapes. The Gamay vines with their deep roots thrive optimally on the sandy, water-permeable soil. The two wines are produced according to biodynamic principles and show the best of Cru Beaujolais wines. Jean-Claude Boisset took over Château de Pierreux in 2005 and stylishly renovated it over the years with great effort.
