With the aim of creating a novel champagne style, Louise Pommery opened in Reims in July 1868 the “Building project of the century”. It leaves the historical Roman tunnels that are located in the chalk soils under located in the city, in aging cellars for their champagne rebuild and thus lay the foundation for the unique Domaine Pommery. In 1874 she created the first Brut champagne in history. The Apanage Brut 1874 was designed as a blend of different vintages and is based on large vintages: mainly the excellent 2018, plus a touch of 2015 and 2012 to give the cuvée originality.
