About the wine
The story begins in Turin in 1786, when Antonio Benetto Carpano, after a period of studying herbalism, invented the formula that would lead to the creation of the category of wormwood by combining herbs and seasoning with muscat — Carpano wormwood was born. Carpano's wine shop was located directly opposite the Royal Palace and, relying on the attractiveness of his new product, he sent a case of vermouth to King Vittorio Amedeo III. The king immediately liked the drink and he took it into his household.

Tasting note
Benedetto Carpano invented this ancient recipe in 1786 and created the product category of vermouth. Carpano Antica Formula is Italian vermouth par excellence, the first vermouth in history, composed of white wine, Moscato from Piedmont and rich southern Italian wine varieties. It owes its taste and aroma to carefully selected mountain herb infusions. The vanilla bouquet is rounded off by the taste of spices and dried fruits such as star anise, orange peel and dates.
