About the wine
The De Moya winery was founded in 2001 by Belgian Yves Laurijssens. Back then, he emigrated to Spain with his family to fulfill his dream of having their own winery. He found what he was looking for in Valencia and bought 40 hectares of land with vineyards up to 95 years old. Yve's goal was to make the best red wines from the Bobal grape. All wines that have been created bear the names of their female family members. That of his wife Sofia and of his daughters Maria and Justina. The name of the winery comes from the small, charming village of Casas de Moya, where the vineyards are located. The height of the hills varies between 800 and 950 meters. |
Tasting note
Dark ruby red. Spicy notes (vanilla, coconut) and fruity aromas of dark berries and dried fruit. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful with wonderful depth and length.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with roast veal, grilled chicken or meat paella.
Vinification
15 to 40-year-old vines 850 m above sea level. The grapes are cooled down to 4°C for 24 hours. Fermentation in steel tanks and in large oak barrels, where the wine remains on the mash for about 30 days. It is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
