About the wine
Pioneer Anton Kollwentz is considered one of the great personalities of new Austrian wine and a significant co-founder of the “wine miracle”. Now son Andreas is shining in his footsteps. And how! The modern winery in Grosshöflein has sensational wine locations. The vineyards are as “tailor-made” as if they had been tailored for the Vienna Opera Ball. And Andreas knows why: he is interested in nothing more than perfect, fully ripe harvest for his world-class wines. The showpiece and “Austria's Latour” is the Steinzeiler: a Blaufränkisch with some Zweigelt and Cabernet Sauvignon. Precise, magnificent classic with incredible storage potential.

Tasting note
Die Aromen des Blaufränkisch Leithakalk von würzigen Kräutern drücken viel Finesse mit einer ganz einzigartigen Struktur aus. Danach zeigen die verspielten Nuancen von Waldbeere, roter Kirsche und roter Johannisbeere ihren eigenen Charakter. Sein schickes Granatrot krönt jedes festliche Mal mit Stil und Eleganz. Diesen Farbton finden Sie in keiner Farbpalette. Wuchtiger Körper und markante Säure ergeben den Rotwein, welcher ausgewogen mit feinen Tanninen im Mund viel Charakter und Klasse zeigt.
Culinary recommendation
Flaschenpöstler-Tipp: Blaufränkisch Leithakalk passt perfekt zu Pasta mit Steinpilzen, Kalbsfilet und Lamm. Unsere Empfehlung: Geniessen Sie diesen Rotwein bei leicht gekühlten 16°-18°C. Der Wein sollte in diesem Zeitraum genossen werden: Jetzt bis 2023.
Vinification
After selective manual harvesting, the fully ripe grapes are gently fermented on the mash and macerated for 3-4 weeks. It is aged for 24 months in small French oak barrels.
