About the wine

What Guido Fantino and Claudio Conterno have achieved since the founding of the joint wine company in 1982 is impressive: It all began in the backyard, in a coach house, where the first barrels and the essentials were kept close together. Today, one of the most modern and beautiful wineries in the region is located on Bricco Bastia, the highest point above Monforte d'Alba. Modern oenology is used here, sparkling chrome steel from the fermentation tanks and fine oak wood from the barriques impressively shape the character of the cellar. All wines that leave this cellar are clearly and precisely defined as the architecture and furnishings of this model company. Whether it's the simple Nebbiolo, the fruity Barbera or the complex Sori Ginestra, each one is a masterpiece in itself!

Tasting note
One of the most successful winemaking families in Piedmont are the wives Guido Fantino and Claudio Conterno. Since the early eighties, their wines, in particular the Baroli Sorì Ginestra and Vigna del Gris, have been among the finest that grows in Piedmont. They have now been able to acquire two new, small vineyards in a short time: Barolo Mosconi and Vigna Pressenda in Castelletto Monforte. The latter consists of vines, some of which were planted as early as 1969. From these, Conterno Fantino obtains a small quantity of just 5000 bottles. The rest of this excellent location in the municipality of Monforte reaches Nebbiolo Ginestrino. The Vigna Pressenda is dense, precisely defined, with fine aromas of tobacco and cloves. Compact on the palate, with fine tannin embedded in a juicy melt.
Culinary recommendation
Goes well with lamb, beef, veal, venison, pork, grilled meat
Vinification
