About the wine

In addition to a small town in the Piedmont region, the name Barolo also stands for a fascinating wine history, with which the Cantina Marchesi and Barolo is strongly linked. It was the Margraves Falletti and former owners of the winery who created the wine of the kings — the Barolo — at the beginning of the 19th century. Among the personalities associated with the name Barolo, there are a few who can be described as historical, indeed true pioneers. This pioneering role also belongs to the commendatore Pietro Emilio Abbona — an ancestor of today's owner family — who, as an undisputed pioneer, made the wine of his region and with it the Cantina Marchesi di Barolo known all over the world.
