Tasting note
The Vigna Gianmaté in Lage Bazaar is virtually the crown jewel of the Azienda Fratelli Giacosa in Neive. The Fratelli Giacosa, who have gradually expanded and redeveloped their vineyards over the past thirty years, now have a stately area of excellent vineyards. For the first time with the 2018 vintage, Fratelli Giacosa decided to produce a Riserva from Barbaresco, after the successful Barolo. To do this, they use a selection of grapes from the Gianmaté vineyard, which is particularly suitable for achieving excellent ripening potential through a longer aging period. The wine is complex, very complex, well defined with ripe notes. On the palate, with a good tannin and acid structure, it appears supple, racy and perfectly balanced.
