About the wine

Since 1881, the winery founded by Pio Cesare has stood for the highest level of quality and tradition in the production of famous wines from the Langhe region near Alba. Pio Cesare was one of the very first wine producers who believed in the potential and quality of Barbera, Barbaresco and Barolo and in the possibilities of Piedmont. Since the middle of the 19th century, Pio Cesare has been one of the top addresses in Piedmont, producing great wines on this terroir with tremendous quality efforts. This top winery, which is now famous all over the world for Barolo and Barbaresco, is managed by the fifth generation. The current owners Giuseppe Boffa (his wife Rosi is the granddaughter of the founder Pio Cesare) and Pio Boffa also see themselves as traditionalists. Quality over quantity has always been the philosophy of Pio Cesare. Pio Cesare owns 50 hectares of vineyards with famous Barolo sites.
