At full strength, the aroma is initially a beguiling mix of warm Christmas cake, walnut oil and violets, fused with fresh ocean scent and cedar and pine needles falling from the Christmas tree. A smoldering charcoal fire and the deep scent of well-oiled leather bring warmth to the scene. The sweetness of molasses tea and chocolate-coated raisins tempts you to indulge. With a little water, the deep smokiness intensifies, reminiscent of a flambéed, Anglo-Saxon Christmas cake. Tar smoke and diesel engine oil enter the room and recall the smell of earlier times. Opulent blooming currants, warm, baked bananas and walnut bread are served with simmering mocha. Full-bodied and opulent with a deep mouth-covering texture, the taste is a captivating balance between sweet, spicy and deep smoke notes.
