About the wine

The special feature of Ilurce wines, which come from Rioja, is that they are completely without the Tempranillo grape traditionally grown in this wine-growing region. Garnacho (Grenache) and Graciano were used for the three drops presented here. Ilurce is managed by the fourth generation of the Escudero Carra winegrowing family, whose wines convey their enthusiasm, their roots and their passion for the land. Bodegas was founded in 1940. It is located in the eastern part of La Rioja, in Alfaro. In 1995, Ilurce was finally established as a brand, the winery began expanding its own wines in barriques, which were first launched on the market in 2003. In 2010, new buildings were built, but despite top modern facilities, the family is aware that the vineyards, conscious use of their land and experience are the keys to Ilurce wines. Today, over 60 ha of vineyards are cultivated, which include sites with very old vines, there are over 110 years of Garnachereben, of which the family is very proud. Where other winegrowers have replaced Garnacha with Tempranillo, Ilurse has preserved these vineyards planted by their ancestors and cultivates them with great care and dedication.
