About the wine

St. Michael-Eppan is a cooperative consisting of 350 winegrowers and, with its various individual vineyards with a total of more than 380 ha of cultivated area, is one of the largest and most successful wineries in South Tyrol. Despite its size, quality has been paramount since its founding in 1907, which is why it is now one of the best winegrowers' cooperatives in the world. The outstanding oenologist Hans Terzer has been managing the winery since 1977. Thanks to his unconditional passion for wines and his perfectionism, the quality of the wines increased to a very high degree under his leadership. In 1997, he was named one of the 10 most important winemakers in the world by the Italian wine magazine Il Gambero Rosso. Another prestigious award followed in 2000 when St. Michael-Eppan received the Italian Winery of the Year award. High quality awareness is still paramount today, so that the wines continue to be regularly awarded 3 glasses of Gambero Rosso and Slow Food.
