About the wine
Almaviva is made from a mix of classic Bordeaux varieties, with Cabernet Sauvignon predominating, and is the result of a successful encounter between two cultures. Chile offers its soil, climate and vineyards, while France contributes its know-how and traditions in winemaking. The result is an exceptionally elegant and complex wine. Its introduction was an important milestone in the development of Chilean wines, both in Chile itself and on the international market.
Tasting note
The Almaviva impresses with its deep ruby red brilliance and its fresh, elegant and complex bouquet. An interplay of ripe fruit and subtle floral aromas initially dominates before giving way to fine notes of violet, licorice, ink and graphite. The juicy start of ripe fruits such as raspberries and blackcurrants is balanced by a delicate structure and a fine texture of smooth and polished tannins, which are enveloped in vanilla and cocoa aromas. On the palate, it is harmoniously balanced by a high level of acidity. The Almaviva is an exquisite combination of freshness, elegance and balance, a true expression of an exceptional vintage.
Vinification
Ageing in barrels for 20 months, new French oak.
